Today we took the ferry from Tahiti to Moorea.
When planning this trip, I told friends that I was booking the hotel of my dreams. I’m happy to report that the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa is as breathtaking as the photos. Thank goodness for hotel points!
From Nathan: We are staying in an over-the-water bungalow with a glass floor! If I want to go snorkeling, all I have to do is walk outside. The lagoon is very nice with coral and wonderfully colored fish. We also get to pedal boat, paddle board, and kayak for free. I am glad to be staying here!
Ya think?!
From Aidan: While we were walking back from dinner, we saw black tip sharks circling the bar. I stopped and stared. The hotel feeds the sharks every night.
Ok, not sure why the hotel staff is encouraging visits from sharks, but I’m told that they’re harmless. Crossing my fingers!
Travel Tip 47: Try to stay in an overwater bungalow at least once.
In addition to Moorea, you can find overwater bungalows on these other French Polynesian islands: Bora Bora, Huahine, Maharepa, Raiatea, and Tikehau. These accommodations can also be found in Belize, Fiji, Honduras, Mauritius, Maldives, Malaysia, Mexico, and Panama.
At this moment, I can hear fish (not sharks!) splashing outside our sliding glass door. Very cool.
Stunning photos. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂
Wonderful – we are off to Adventure Cove today. I KNOW it won’t be that beautiful or luxurious.
Please tell the boys that I’m thinking about them and hope that they have a great time at camp! I’m praying for your patience and sanity!!
Truly Paradise!
Wow, that is still a dream! Always pondered where would be better: French Polynesians or the Maldives?
You can’t lose with either option!
Yes, I am sure you’re right!
